Guard Tour System PES

PES is TOMST's iButton-based guard tour system: rugged patrol readers that record who was where and when, protected by ANTI-VANDAL® technology and evaluated in the WinKontrol software. Developed and manufactured by TOMST since 1997.

  • Compact readers: 90 mm, 49 g
  • Up to 14 000 events per reader
  • Integrated 10-year battery, up to 5-year guarantee
  • ANTI-VANDAL self-protection with event logging

How it works

Every PES reader and every iButton chip carries a unique serial number. When a chip is touched to it, the reader records the chip's identity together with the exact time and date - the chip can identify a person, a place, or an object on the patrol route.

Collected data is downloaded to a PC either directly, by placing the reader into the TMD Adapter, or indirectly through a supervisor's data chip. The WinKontrol software then analyzes the tours and generates reports.

Typical uses: guard tour control, postal services, health care, cleaning services, inspection rounds (fire, safety, lifts, buses), education, military services, and goods or container tracking. For custom applications, PES data can be integrated into your own software through a DLL library.

ANTI-VANDAL® technology

The ANTI-VANDAL technology is a self-protection system built into every PES reader. It records damage attempts instead of letting them pass unnoticed - each event downloads together with the tour data and appears in a dedicated WinKontrol report.

  • Hit detection - three intensity levels, resisting overloads up to 10 G, distinguishing a simple fall from a destruction attempt.
  • Overvoltage protection - withstands external overvoltage up to 265 V and records its polarity.
  • Short-circuit detection - identified without draining the battery.
  • Environmental resistance - waterproof, and resistant to high temperatures and large temperature swings.
  • Microwave detection - records attempts to destroy the reader with microwave radiation.

  • 10-year battery
  • Warranty 5 years / 1 000 ANTI-VANDAL points
Every model is the same 90 x 18 mm, 49 g body.

ANTI-VANDAL points count the reader's recorded self-protection activations - hits, overvoltage, or microwave attempts. A 100-point warranty covers the reader through 100 such events.

In practice

Each reader is assigned to a site or an individual in WinKontrol, and each guard carries a unique key ring for identification. The guard signs in by touching the key ring to the reader, then walks the route and touches wall-mounted checkpoints to prove time and attendance at every location.

The same principle covers other work: in postal services, every post box carries a checkpoint chip fixed inside the box, so a postman cannot register the box without opening it and collecting the letters. Health care rounds, cleaning services, and bus inspections work the same way.

WinKontrol software

WinKontrol is the evaluation center of the PES system. Supervisors define employees, checkpoints, routes, and shifts - including routes with a strict direction, a random checkpoint order, or tolerated missing checkpoints.

Its main strength is reporting: more than twenty report types, from a simple tour overview to per-employee, per-checkpoint, and ANTI-VANDAL event reports, all of which can be customized and saved.
